Integrative- incorporating all beneficial healing modalities
This may include lifestyle changes, food as medicine, mind body medicine, herbal medicine, vitamins, supplements, acupuncture, manual therapies, energy healing, psychotherapy. I still prescribe traditional medicine and hormones and even recommend surgery, but I do so less often since I completed my fellowship in Integrative Medicine.
Holistic- taking into account the whole person: body, mind, spirit
Within medicine we often get so focused on one disease or one organ system, that we lose sight of how everything is connected.  As a Gynecologist, I recognize that the reproductive system doesn’t exist in isolation.  We explore all areas of health including thyroid, adrenal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, immune, emotional, and more.
Functional- getting to the root cause of illness
Diseases are labels that describe symptoms. In functional medicine, we dig deeper. What is the cause of those symptoms: diet, stress, infection, toxins, genetics? Most diseases have several underlying drivers that all need to be addressed. I utilize advanced functional testing to assist in the evaluation.
Personalized – no two treatment plans are the same
Each person has a unique genetic profile and life story that shapes who they are in this moment. Getting to know each patient is imperative. At your initial visit I will spend 90 minutes reviewing your history and creating a treatment plan.
